 2/12/21 First, 2/12/21, 21221, 21 [2] 21. Kind of a nice date, not as good as some but not bad.  Now, onto the musings. I've begun playing around with graphs, nothing much just playing. Hopefully I'll be doing some research in graph theory this summer so I've just started to learn a little bit here and there. Mainly, I'm trying to familiarize myself with the pictures. Getting over the notation as quickly as possible and finding new patterns wherever I can. So, what have I done? Well, since I don't know anything about graph theory, I first started out with trying to translate something else I know into graphs. I chose the platonic solids because I think they're neat. I began with a tetrahedron, or a D4 as I think of it.  The tetrahedron has four points and six edges, which I translated to four nodes and six...edges. It was starting with the tetrahedron that I thought of a really interesting metric to judge the graphs by. That metric was minimum and maximum close...

 2/8/21 So, this was a random idea I had earlier today while drawing with my girlfriend. We were trying to practice shading rainbows in case you were wondering. Okay but here's the idea.  Visualizing the fourth dimension is always really tricky. Usually it involves some sort of slider that changes the three dimensional projection we see. This is difficult to understand though because it changes how we view the shape. My idea is to utilize another axis of human sight: height, width, depth, and hue. We can detect colors and colors have a natural feeling associated with them. Blue is cold, red is hot. Just with those two colors, the idea of a four dimensional cube being more hot or cold can be gotten across. A slider would change the shades of the object as it travels closer or furthe...

 2/8/2021 The Musings of a Math Major may not mean much but they help. I'm trying to start this blog to create an outlet for whatever passion I'm currently invested in. Whether that be stocks, daytrading, springtee stores, cryptocurrency mining, rock climbing, ukulele, origami, computer programming, art, working out, ultimate frisbee, really whatever.
